At KAUST, our homes are an important part of community life. They are where residents live, connect and build their daily routines.

This page provides an overview of a planned renovation initiative affecting 2,084 homes in the Island and Garden neighborhoods.

It offers an overview of the initiative, why it is being undertaken initiative, and what residents can expect as the program progresses.

These improvements focus on:
  • Everyday Comfort Enhancements to energy efficiency, temperature control and ventilation
  • Long-term Building Performance Upgrades that protect the structure and core systems of residential buildings

What Is Being Improved

The renewal program includes coordinated improvements across several areas of the home

  • Envelope Improvements Repairs and enhancements to exterior building components
  • Fire and Life Safety Upgraded fire alarm systems and safety infrastructure
  • Waterproofing Improvements that help protect buildings from water intrusion

Updates that support everyday comfort and functionality
  • Kitchen and Bathroom Refreshed kitchen and bathroom finishes
  • Lighting and Ventilation Upgraded lighting and improved airflow within homes
  • Systems and Technology Improvements to reliable home operation

Improvements to key building systems

How Residents Will Be Supported

Renovation works require coordination and preparation. Accommodation Services will provide guidance and information to residents whose homes are included in upcoming phases.

    A designated contact to respond to resident questions
  • Advance Notification
    Residents whose homes are scheduled for renovation will receive information outlining timelines and next steps
  • Coordinated Scheduling
    Works will be carefully sequenced across neighborhoods to support orderly delivery of the program. Updates will also be shared on this page as the program progresses.

Is My Home Affected?

Residential Renewal will take place in phases across the community. If your home is included in an upcoming phase, you will receive direct communication from Accommodation Services outlining the expected timeline and next steps. Homes not scheduled in the immediate phase will continue normal operations until future phases are announced.

As planning progresses, residents whose homes are included in upcoming phases will receive further information about timelines, access requirements and support arrangements.
